A new report by Grid Strategies' Michael Goggin for the Niskanen Center shows how power prices spiked during Winter Storm Fern (red = highest, blue = lowest). A bigger transmission grid would have allowed cheaper power to move to where it was most needed, a reality that gets repeated every big weather event.
